Measure Up for a Free Blind Quote

Blinds & Shades can be mounted either inside the window frame, or outside. Either way, you will need both the width and the height.

FOR INSIDE MOUNT:

Blinds are mounted inside the window frame. Measure from inside edge to inside edge.

1. For the inside width:

  • Measure inside window frame from left to right.
  • Repeat this three times at the top, middle and bottom of the frame. Even new windows can warp, so you’ll want to be as accurate as possible for a seamless fit.
  • Record the smallest of the three measurements, to the nearest 1/8th inch, rounding down

2. For the inside height:

  • Measure from top to bottom, again in three places – left, middle, and right – to account for any variation or warping.
  • Record the shortest of the three measurements, to the nearest 1/8th inch, rounding down.

FOR OUTSIDE MOUNT

Blinds mounted outside/on top of the window frame. Measure moulding edge to moulding edge.

1. For the outside width:

  • Measure from left to right, from left outer moulding edge to the right outer moulding edge – or however wide you want your blinds to be. (Perhaps you’d like to give yourself extra coverage on either side of the window)
  • Repeat this three times at the top, middle and bottom of the frame. Even new windows can warp, so you’ll want to be as accurate as possible for a seamless fit.
  • Record the smallest of the three measurements, to the nearest 1/8th inch, rounding down.

2. For the outside height:

  • Measure from top to bottom, from top of upper moulding to the bottom of the lower moulding edge – or however tall you want your blinds to be.
  • Take the measurements in three places – top, middle, and bottom – to account for any variation or warping.
  • Record the tallest of the three measurements, to the nearest 1/8th inch, rounding up.
