The Paint Shop Expands into Nova Scotia

Becomes Exclusive Benjamin Moore Retailer In Greater Halifax Region

Mount Pearl, NL (December 15, 2017) The Paint Shop has strengthened its roots in Atlantic Canada, acquiring Paul Susnis Decorating and its three, well-established stores in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This move gives The Paint Shop exclusive territory rights to sell Benjamin Moore paint in the Halifax region and brings the total number of Paint Shops in Atlantic Canada to 34: four in Nova Scotia, two in New Brunswick, and 28 in Newfoundland and Labrador where the home decor retailer was first established.

Known currently as Burnside Decorating, Colourworks and Acadia & Quigley, the Halifax locations have been the long-standing purveyors of Benjamin Moore paint in their communities, some in operation for over 50 years. This history is familiar to The Paint Shop, whose very first store was a humble home in downtown St. John`s, NL over forty years ago.

“We are excited to tap into the energy and expertise of these great teams,” says President Bob Payne of the recent acquisitions.

Stores Acadia & Quigley, Colourworks and Burnside Decorating will now be known as Paint Shop Quinpool, Paint Shop Strawberry Hill and Paint Shop Burnside respectively.

The Paint Shop has been a household name in Newfoundland and Labrador for decades, opening its first store in 1975. A premier Benjamin Moore paint retailer, The Paint Shop has since added flooring and window treatments to the mix to become the largest home decorating network in Canada.
