Cutting the Cord

Blinds Get a Makeover with New Legislation

At Paint Shop, we’ll be making room for new blinds at our stores. Some of our most popular offerings are being redesigned and will no longer be available for purchase. As of this May, corded blinds will be taken off the shelves in Canada as retailers adjust to comply with new rules and regulations from Health Canada’s Consumer Product Safety Act.

Canadians have until April 11th to order the following types of window coverings:

  • Top-Down/Bottom-Up Cellular Shades –with Continuous Cord Loop, or Cordless Lift or Motorized
  • Faux Wood Blinds – Standard Controls or Cordless Control
  • Roller shades with Metal or Plastic Bead Chain
  • Aluminum 1″ and 2″ blinds
  • Pleated Shades
  • Roman Shades

Don’t be disappointed that we’re cutting the cord; it’s an exciting time for us in the window biz! Our suppliers have developed new and innovative ways to provide safe and beautiful window coverings that we can’t wait to share with you.
